Extreme? Potentially.

Have you seen this show?
Well yours truly has, and she's slightly addicted.

Over the past week and a half (we're super new to this world!!), we've been blessed to find some great deals!
I'm not sure if I'd be considered extreme or krazy, but I do have the Eggman dumpster-diving.
In all fairness he did volunteer. And he has recently stated that he was "born to scrounge."
I'll tell ya, I didn't know about that "scrounging" prior to the
I do's. But I'm certainly thankful it!

Both the Eggman and I were raised by Couponers and we've been known to clip a few, from time to time. But I now realize the power that comes from truly making this a way-of-life. It's not realistic to simply clip a coupon or two and expect to see huge savings, because the generic is still usually cheaper. So now we dive, sort, clip and file ... waiting for the sale (this is key). Then we score. BIG!

This is the new-normal around our home. Lulu Bug helps the Eggman and I find all the deals ...

and then she checks out the funnies.

Here's a little example of what we've come home with in the past 10 days:

Let there be formula!!!!!!
Retail value - $587.02 and they paid us $30.38 to take it out of the store!
(Praise the Lord, we've now got enough to make it till Lulu turns one! We'd better start stocking up on those organic whole milk coupons now!!)

Ribbon and buttons
What? I've got a daughter and I'm not spending my coupon savings on hair accessories that I can make myself! :)
(Not free, but cheap and paid for with overages.)

I got two of these lovely picnic baskets, which I'll be using to organize my craft and sewing supplies!

Even some real food!!
FREE spinach:
(10 for $10 with a $0.50 coupon, doubled)
(Bananas were paid for with overages.)

Yes, this Mama Chick considers dark chocolate chips to be "real food!"

Then we got razors. A LOT OF RAZORS.
45 4-packs, to be exact. FOR FREE.
No actually, we got paid to take these home as well. $0.04 per pack!
(Someone recently told me I better always have freshly-shave legs now.
Check check, good buddy! :)

Some frames, for an up-the-stairway project in the works.
(Inexpensive and paid for with overages.)

A double-pack of deodorant for the Eggman,
because ... well, you know where he works, right? LOL!
(On sale and paid for with overages.)

So far, my stores of choice have been Walmart and Safeway.
Say what you will about either store, but ...

In terms of Safeway: by using coupons and doublers in addition to their club card for store deals, THERE ARE HUGE DEALS TO BE HAD!!
And as for Walmart: any store that applies overages to the rest of my purchases or GIVES ME CASH BACK, is my kind of store!!

Today's Walmart haul, alone:
77 items (that we actually use!!)
Retail value - $342.57
Out of pocket - $11.62

So keep diving, babe and BRING ME THE COUPONS ...

... so we can see more of this:

Total purchases since we started couponing:
Retail value - $891.58
Cost to us - $35.68

Thanks so much to my friends Lora and Hally!!!
Without them taking the time to introduce and educate us, these savings would not exist!

I'm so thankful and blessed.
Until next time ... Mama Chick, out.

  1. WOW! That is awesome! You totally have to give me a few lessons one how to get those deals when I move there. I didn't realize a store would give you that much CASH back...

  2. For sure, Joi! And as far as I know Walmart is the only store that does that cash-back thing. :)
