What. A. Week.

This has been ONE OF THOSE WEEKS. Let's take it from the top, shall we?

the HEAT: I may have moved here for school, but I stayed for two reasons: the weather/scenery and the Eggman (please don't tell him he was listed second because he IS the main reason, for sure!). The fact that I grew up in and have lived most of my adult life in AZ and am rather accustomed to 100+ degree days, does not change the fact that I'm currently miserable up here in God's country. We've only had two or three days over 90 so far this week. However, when one is beginning their 37th week of pregnancy and has no central air in one's home, life as one knows it slightly ceases to exist. Now, I enjoy the sunshine and good ole Vitamin D just like the next guy, but the heat? Not so much. I am however happy to report that rumors of low 80's and overcast for tomorrow have been circulating. So here's hoping!! It'll still be sunny, but a whole heck of a lot cooler!
Note: I've known for about eight months or so that Lil Chick would be arriving late July/early August. Therefore, I've been praying for eight months or so for a mild summer and nice delivery nurses ~ stay tuned, as that report cometh. So to those of you who have been unhappy with the cool, cloudy and rainy weather we've been experiencing this summer in the PNW, I'm sorry. But to those of you in AZ who experienced the reprieve in mid-June ~ including the little rain I brought down with me for the 12th ~ you're welcome! LOL!

the VANDALISM: Why are some people the way the are? Do mothers and kindergarten teachers no longer teach and train children that if something doesn't belong to them, they not supposed to take it? I mean, really? So here's what went down. On Tuesday evening, the Eggman and I were at the hospital (which is apparently located in the hood), in an effort to be responsible parents-to-be, attending our childbirth class. We walked out to our car a little before 9pm, though it was still daylight, to find that the driver's side window of our car had been bashed in and there was glass ALL over. Upon further investigation, we noticed Maggie, our GPS (which has been attached to our window for two years) and Nick, our camera (which I had apparently NOT hidden well enough under the seat) had been stolen. I really liked both Maggie and Nick. But let's be honest, both of those items can be replaced. The thing that simply sickens me is that I had over 200 pictures from early June on, that I had yet to upload to my computer on the memory card. So I've now lost the documentation of all those memories: my whole trip to AZ, pictures of family, friends and baby showers. And I'm so sad about losing the belly-shots that the Eggman has been taking every Friday, as well as my Project 365 (Take a Photo a Day, Every Day and See Your Life in a Whole New Way) pictures. Sad. Sad. Sad. But don't worry, the lesson has been learned. I'm just thankful the Eggman was there with me. It could have easily have been Lil Chick and I there alone, for a doctor's appointment or something.

Update: Wednesday I filed reports with hospital security, police department and insurance company. Window was repaired by 5pm. People are so kind to pregnant women!

the BATTERY: On Wednesday evening after dinner, the Eggman and I dashed over to the grocery store for caramel-covered apple fixins!! (Fact: 90% of my preggo cravings have involved fruit in some way. I certainly hope the love of fruit transfers to Lil Chick!) But unfortunately, it was there in the grocery store parking lot that our car battery decided to croak. Its only a three-year old car, but as the Eggman said we have seven year's worth of miles on it. So not too shabby, in terms of the life of a car battery. But I just wish it would've happened on a different day, as it was a hot one (See two paragraphs above for refresher, if needed.). L-O-N-G story short, we got a new battery and of course the caramel apple fixins. The Eggman changed the battery in the dark. And yep you guessed it, I made caramel-covered apples. Once the craving has hit, its hard to distract me. ;)

Update: Battery light is still on. Apparently there's a new alternator in our future. Sigh.

  • First things first ... GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME! AND ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD!
  • And a close-second is that I am SO INCREDIBLY thankful and blessed to be married to the most patient, resourceful, loving and supportive man that I've ever met! He kept his cool all week, which helped me do the same! I love you, Eggman and always will!!
  • Next ... these things happen in three's, right? So it would appear we're done for a bit.
  • And last, but not least if anyone out there happens to have a Maggie or a Nick  that they've been meaning to sell on Craig's List or something, please let me know. We may be interested! I have a dear friend who's volunteered her Nick for the birth of our Lil Chick, but I suppose she'll be wanting it back shortly thereafter! :)

To quote a country song I recently heard that seems to fit rather well ... sounds like "life" to me!

Until next time, Mama Chick Out.

  2. Yeah for only 3 more weeks (or less?) until the girl child gets here. Start walking already ... will ya? Audrey needs a friend. A friend that doesn't make car noises. When I lived in Portland, I used a map. I pulled over about every 5 feet because the street name changed and I was super confused. Maggie ... you need to come back. EM NEEDS YOU!!!
