Her permanent teeth (Permanent? What?!?! What happened to her baby teeth?) have developed and she's just waiting for her gums. Our baby is very aware of her surroundings (that's cuz she's advanced, I'm sure) and her eyelids will open and close (oh, goodness ... flirting already? Don't tell the Eggman). She will even look around and turn toward light (please note the pic below ... that's right, I'm moving up in the blogging world ~ pictures!). We tend to think of the uterus as a dark place, but the uterus actually can be light and dark. Our baby weighs almost three pounds now and is about 15.5 inches long. (I'm thinking she's gotta be getting cramped in there ... I'm certainly not what one would call "tall")
For the most part, I'm able to distinguish her sleeping and waking cycles. And though it usually seems as if the she wants to sleep while I'm awake and practice her kicking while I'm trying to snooze, this is not indicative of a sleepless newborn (PHEW ... cuz Mama Chick's grown rather accustomed to her naps! LOL!). Our baby can not only hear our voices, but can definitely recognize mine (the soothing, melodious tone that it currently is (wink, wink)... thanks, gestational allergies) and most likely the Eggman's, as well. Also, she has a grip so strong it is capable of gripping my finger (Awh!). At this point, our baby may be practicing nursing as she sucks her thumb (good, cuz formula is ex-pen-sive ... keep practicing, Lil Chick!). And she has lungs that are capable of breathing air, although medical help may be needed. About 9 out of 10 babies born now will survive. (Amazing, right?!)
It's simply mind-blowing how fast the first 30 weeks have gone. Here's hoping the next 10 go by just as quickly!!!
We're already completely in L♥VE with this lil chick!!
Completely overwhelmed, yet FULL of JOY!
Until next time, Mama Chick out.
Simply great and I loved your side comments. Can't wait to pinch those little chubby cheeks. (Hers not your's, lol)Raspy voices are totally in these days so I'm sure she thinks you're melodious ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope they go just as fast too! 3 left for me and it seems like the days just DRAG on ... but my neurotic nesting tendencies have finally kicked in. The ones where you see every last inch of dust that has been in your home for the past who knows how long but you just HAVE TO GET IT OUT NOW ... tendencies! So the end must be approaching! Can't wait for BCB to meet her new best friend :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking baby! It was so great having you THREE over yesterday. I hope next time is not so long. Remember, if you need a guest room around the birf, let us know - Adventist is in our backyard!
