When asked what I wanted for my birthday this year, I replied with: Home Depot gift cards, please.
Now this is a traditional gift request, but usually it comes from my father's mouth, or that of the Eggman.
I usually like to spend my plastique elsewhere, such as Nordstroms Rack, TJ Maxx. Really anywhere I can get shoes, clothes or a great bag!
But this year was an exception, indeed. For the Eggman had lit a fire under himself, and decided to build us a covered patio (Yep, I married a man with mad skills!!), something we'd talked about since we moved in, in oh-seven. And I figured any and all gift cards would be helpful to cut down on the cost.
The Eggman's dad came and helped with the concrete one Saturday morning
(Lucy supervised. I went and got my hair done.)
And from then on out, it was basically a one-man show.
And in ONE WEEK FLAT (on my first bebe-out-of-the-belly Mother's Day, to be exact), we had a roof over our heads and the square footage of our home had been increased.
Finishing touches are still being added, but it works and we're loving it!

Tyring to get that handprint. Success. Sort of. Its okay, she's only one! This one's on the step, from the yard up to the patio.

Even our favorite neighborhood boys got in on the action!
This is a shot from Lulu's window. I know what you're thinking ... So nice of you to make her an escape-route. (Fear not: That window WILL be boarded up later on, if needed. Lol!)

Good thing the sun decided to reappear ...
... cuz, guess who was stuck up on the roof the whole time!
Love our new space, Eggman! Thanks for all your hard work!
And thank you to everyone who contributed gift cards for my birthday!!
After the painting is finished, I'll start in on the decor.
I'm envisioning the inside of the ceiling lined with hanging mason jars, each one with a light inside.
I'll keep you posted.
Until next time, Mama Chick out.

So glad you decided to reappear in blogland!! Nice work, Eggman! Kellie can't wait to get her hands on that patio ... I see mason jar hunting in our future! And twinkle lights? And an October party? Eh???
