December. Biggest. Month. To. Date!

Wow. I've told you there were long posts before.
But at the heading suggests, THIS is a massive one.

We had some super fun adventures,
which resulted in some great memories with two of my favorite people!!

We enjoyed the first of our 5th year anniversary
celebrations at home with enchiladas and carrot cake,
two of the Eggman's favorites!

The second celebration was at Olive Garden.
Soup, salad and breadsticks. Yum!
Different Night. Just clarifying.

Please excuse my flash back.
12.03.05 ~ The day I became Mrs. Eggman!!

Come on, slow poke!
Lovely day!
Would do it again. :)

~ Now, back to current day ~
And this yummy goodness was made
for a Woman's Christmas Tea at our church.
Peppermint Bark and Cinnamon Fudge.

The bark was a huge hit ...
even got a shout-out from the podium
as well a dinner date with our pastor and his wife!
Stay tuned  for pics from that dinner in February.

The Eggman found us a great tree ~ Frank the Fir
Hopefully next year, we'll all go on an adventure!

 Flying baby!

Uh, Mama?
Lil Chick didn't need a V-8.

Just a towel.
Fixed the whole problem!

Lil Chick and I enjoyed a lunch date
with some fun friends at Baja Fresh!

Our precious Christmas Gift.
Thanks to Shay Bachelder for these cute pictures!

Pink and Brown.
Mama Chick's first attempt at bow-making.
I'll get better.

YamHill Girl Reunion

Auntie Joi came to stay with us for the weekend ...

... and then the rest of the YHGs
(Mama Chick's roommates from grad school)
and their families came over for food, fun and fellowship!

As a white elephant gift, someone got "finger stashes."
Though I had never heard of such a thing, here we are sporting ours.

We also wanted to give a shout-out to the Boswell boys.
These guys can be found in our home at
various times throughout the week!
They're great boys and Lucy loves them ... I'm told the feeling's mutual!

Christmas with G and G Cunningham
(though ironically, they're not pictured)
But the fun "Lucy" bag made it into the photo!
PS Please let the record show that Lil Chick had a
MUCH cuter and MUCH more festive outfit on prior to the explosion.
Good call on having a back-up outfit in the diaper bag!

We love photo shoots and Shaun even got in on the fun!
Here's Lucy at 5 months

Look at these baby-blues!

All that fun, and this post isn't even half over.
Feel free to log back in later, to finish!

December is the month that this Mama Chick
had been waiting for since we left AZ in September!

As the rotation goes, in 20-10 we were to be in Arizona for Christmas.
However, we weren't sure if that was going to happen this year.
Then in October, Lil Chick's Grandpa Ron (aka my dad) called
to tell me that he'd decided what to get Mia for Christmas. Love it!
A cute pair of earrings?
Nope.
A fun shopping spree?
Nope.
Monthly massages?
Nope.
He wanted to know if Lucy's parents could bring her "home" for Christmas

WHAT?!
OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!
What a blessing!

So, here are some highlights from our trip and
Lil Chick's first Christmas.

Mia, Lil Chick's Auntie Rachel
and Rachel's boyfriend, Allen were waiting at the airport.
And right after a hello, Rachel said, "Will you be my matron of honor?"
Woo hoo! Allen had just proposed hours before.
It's a great story, including this sign:

Needless to say, she said yes.
The wedding is set for Fall 20-11.
Good continued-weight-loss motivation.
For sure.

The next day, we had lunch at Pei Wei with the Bulls and the Brinkmans
(the Eggman's family ~ recent transplants from the PNW)

Lucy enjoyed a lot of face time with
Grandpa Ron, Mia and Great G&G

As well as time with her Uncle Ronnie

... and Auntie Rachel

In fact we reinacted a photo from 1980.
As Ronnie was born just four days before Christmas,
he was sent home in a stocking.

This is Ronnie and Mama Chick
And this is Lucy and Ronnie, in the same stocking! :)

Photo Shoot
Trying to get a family Christmas card picture can be, well ... trying.

But in the end, we decided to go "crazy" for this year's picture.
Here's the winner for the Burkett side of the family:

Thanks Aunt Donna, for being our photographer

Because I promised to reveal our family's winning shot, here it is:

And although Lucy was born in July,
the Eggman and I decided to save a few pennies.
So Lil Chick's birth announcement was sent with our Christmas card!

I love how it turned out!
Again, Shay did a wonderful job capturing our 4-day old!

Lucy's 1st attempt at Rice Cereal
with Mia and Mama Chick
She MAY have consumed a 1/2 ounce.
Maybe.
Then some friends joined us at Sweet Tomatoes to meet our Lil Chick.
It was so nice to see everyone!

PS We have just one more little something funny!
Consider it a gift for making it through this L-O-N-G ole post!
(First, be sure to pause the music in the lower right corner.)

Thanks JibJab for making us smile!

Thank you God, for sending Jesus.

Until next time ... Mama Chick, out.

  1. How did we not get a picture of our LC trip? Love all L's hair accessories ... and I still don't carry and extra outfit with me (after 3 kids) ... so nicely done!!
